Prague Film Orchestra

Prague Film Orchestra

In the Czech Republic there are several symphony orchestras, occasionally touching their repertoire of some favorite titles or popular film music. The Prague Film Orchestra, founded fifteen years ago, focuses exclusively on the interpretation of film. A perfect compliment to a gala evening, or as an accompaniment to another performance act such as fire act or opera singers.

Prague Film Orchestra is a symphony orchestra of young musicians – mainly students and graduates of Czech and international music schools – who share a passion for film music. Under the baton of conductor Jiří Korynta, it is the only orchestra in the Czech Republic specializing in live film music concerts. Its repertoire includes over 120 original scores, many sourced directly from the U.S., along with specially arranged concert suites.

Based in Prague, the orchestra performs regularly across the Czech Republic and occasionally abroad, particularly in Slovakia and Austria. It began in smaller venues like Martinů Hall and later expanded to larger concert spaces, including Prague’s Lucerna cinema, its most frequent stage. Other performances have taken place in Brno, Ostrava, Pilsen, Zlín, and Bratislava, among others.
