Maximilian Hotel
The 71-room Maximilian is all about smart design in this four star hotel Prague. The atmosphere and ambiance is one of an upper middle-class residence at the turn of the 20th century. The hotel is comprised of two separate buildings which are referred to as the Black and Red House, which rise up six floors.
The building itself was designed in the 1920s by Karel Teige who was a beacon in the Czechoslovakian avant-garde style. They kept the style and gave it a modern twist. After reconstruction, the Maximilian was open in 1995. It was the first hotel of its kind in Czech Republic at the time. It had the added benefit of merging history with the present and International standards of excellent services.
The Maximilian’s location is one of the best in Prague: even though you are only 6 minutes walking from Prague’s main attractions such as Old Town square, Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, and the Concert Halls, it is located on the quiet and peaceful Haštalské náměstí, facing the magnificent St. Hastal church. Built as a three-aisled Gothic basilica in the mid-14th century, the interior was rebuilt in Baroque style after a fire destroyed it in 1689. Frescoes dating from the 14th century are still visible in the sacristy.
Maximilian’s interiors glide with reference to “La Maison de Verre” by Pierre Chareau in Paris, and was designed by Eva Jiricna. Art Deco, Modernism and contemporary design all lend to the overall feel of the property. The rooms are sculpted with high ceilings, neo-cubist furniture, and great lighting – both recessed and on adjustable headboard stalks for reading in bed. The rooms are in various combinations of similar materials in colors elated to the chosen architectural period.
The Maximilian four star hotel Prague has several cozy nooks for reading, entertaining, or simply contemplating the city. An efficient business center is available for guests of the hotel, as well as an intimate library and drawing room with fireplace which provides a fully stocked, self service honesty bar.
The New spa of the Maximilian hotel also houses a “Zen City Spa” with traditional Thai massages and treatments. The spa boasts a very unique “Floating Center”, which is basically a 7 meter shell shaped bath with is filled with natural Dead Sea crystals, and allows you to float and experience a unique feeling of weightlessness, absolute silence, and deep relaxation.
